Spicy Cajun-seasoned salmon fillets.

Ingredients

  • 1FOR THE HOMEMADE CAJUN SEASONING (Makes ~1/4 cup):
  • 22 tsp paprika (smoked or regular)
  • 31 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 41 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 51 tsp dried oregano
  • 61 tsp dried thyme
  • 71 tsp sea salt
  • 81/2 tsp black pepper
  • 91/2-1 tsp cayenne pepper (to taste)
  • 10FOR THE SALMON:
  • 114 salmon fillets (6 oz each), skin-on
  • 122 tbsp olive oil
  • 132 tsp cajun seasoning (sugar-free)
  • 141 tsp smoked paprika
  • 151/2 tsp sea salt
  • 161/4 tsp black pepper
  • 171 lemon, cut into wedges for serving

    MAKE THE CAJUN SEASONING: Add all spices to a small bowl or jar.

    Mix well or shake to combine. Store in an airtight container for up to 6 months.

    PREPARE THE SALMON:

    Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels and generously coat both sides with Cajun seasoning.

    Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add a thin layer of oil.

    Place salmon skin-side down in the hot skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes until the bottom is crispy and golden.

    Flip the salmon and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until fish is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F.

    Remove from heat, squeeze fresh lemon juice over the fillets, and serve immediately.
